She was born in an Iyer family at Palakkad and her mother is from Thiruvananthapuram. Her father is Vasudev Mani who owns an automobile factory. Her mother Latha Mani was an international badminton player and was working in Union Bank Of India as an assistant manager but took voluntary retirement when Priyamani came into the field of movies. She is very familiar with Malayalam film film industry. She likes KPAC Lalitha very much. Her movie "Satyam" opposite Prithvraj did well in theatres.
